Come and see.
It's a phrase that immediately conjures up the feelings of welcome comfort and a little fear at the same time. While it's friendly, it still can cause us to be a little suspect of the place we've been invited to, the thing that we've been invited to view, or the person who has done the inviting.
But throughout the Bible, we are invited to come and see.
Psalm 46:8 invites us to "Come and see the works of the LORD."
Psalm 66:5 invites us to "Come and see what God has done, how awesome His works in man's behalf!
In Isaiah 66:18 God says "And I, because of their actions and their imaginations, am about to come and gather all nations and tongues, and they will come and see my glory.
The angel at the resurrection tomb tells the ladies who have come to find Jesus "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." (Matthew 28:6)
But one of the most pointed times that we see the question asked in the Bible is when Philip invites Nathanael to meet Jesus for the first time. ."Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip" (John 1:46)
